Montessori School Serving Deerfield Beach Families
Deerfield Beach sits right on the Broward–Palm Beach line, which puts a genuinely good Montessori option closer than most residents realize. Royal Palm Montessori Academy is a short run north on Powerline Road, Military Trail, or the Turnpike — often faster than crossing Deerfield east to west during rush hour.
We opened in February 2000 and have operated from the same West Boca campus ever since, under the same family. Twenty-six years.
Built for a commuting parent
Families come to us from The Cove, Deer Creek, Waterways, Independence Bay, Crystal Lake, and the Hillsboro Boulevard corridor. Many are already driving north or west for work, and our 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM weekday schedule is designed to fit around that reality rather than fight it. School doors are in lockdown at 8:30 AM and again at 3:30 PM for student safety, so we ask families to plan drop-off accordingly.
An accredited school with certified teachers
Two credentials do most of the work in separating serious Montessori programs from imitations, and we hold both. Royal Palm Montessori Academy carries Apple Accreditation through FACCM and is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families under license #50-51-00898. Our teachers hold Montessori certification, and staff longevity here is unusual — several teachers have been in these classrooms since the school opened.
Our owner/director has led the school since 1999. She holds a BA from Harvard University, a master's degree from Nova Southeastern University, and Montessori certification.
Crossing the county line for VPK
This is the question Deerfield Beach families ask most. Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten program is a state program, not a county program. Families receive a Certificate of Eligibility from their local early learning coalition and can use it at a participating provider — including one in a neighboring county. Broward-resident families have enrolled here for years. Call us and we will walk you through exactly what to request and where to send it.
We also work with families using Step Up For Students scholarships.
Inside the classroom
Our program is organized around the five Montessori curriculum areas:
Practical Life.
Pouring, buttoning, sweeping, preparing food. Deceptively simple activities that build the concentration, sequencing, and fine-motor control everything else rests on.
Sensorial.
Materials that isolate a single quality — color, weight, shape, texture, size, sound, smell — so children learn to perceive fine distinctions.
Language.
Letter shapes and sounds, handwriting preparation, vocabulary development, word-to-picture matching, and reading.
Mathematics.
Concrete materials first. Children physically handle quantities long before they work with written numerals, which produces genuinely durable number sense.
Science and Social Studies.
​Botany, geography, the natural world — reinforced in our garden, where students plant, grow produce, and run experiments.
​Beyond the core: Spanish three times a week, art twice a week, weekly computer lab, physical education, and a moral character program covering kindness, responsibility, and citizenship. Optional extracurriculars include Soccer Shots, Kenpo Karate, and dance through Dynamite Dance Studio.
What your child actually does here
A Montessori morning does not look like a conventional preschool morning. There is no whole-group worksheet time. Instead, children work through five prepared areas of the classroom:
Practical Life
comes first and matters most — pouring water between pitchers, buttoning frames, sweeping, preparing snack. These look like chores. What they build is concentration, sequencing, and fine-motor control, which is exactly what a four-year-old needs before a pencil goes in their hand.
Sensorial
​materials isolate a single quality — weight, texture, color gradation, pitch — so children learn to notice detail precisely.​
Language
​moves from letter sounds and sandpaper letters through vocabulary, word-picture matching, and into early reading and writing.
Mathematics
Mathematics is taught with physical materials before symbols, so children handle a quantity of one thousand before they write the numeral.
​Science and Social Studies
run through botany, geography, and our garden, where students grow produce and conduct experiments.
Add Spanish three times weekly, art twice weekly, computer lab, PE, and a moral character program, plus optional soccer, Kenpo Karate, and dance.
​Small ratios, large rooms
Our classrooms are physically spacious and our student-to-teacher ratios are small. Both are necessary. Montessori work requires a child to spread materials on a mat, stay with them uninterrupted, and receive an individual lesson from a teacher when they are ready. That does not happen in a crowded room with one adult and twenty-five children.

Yes. We enroll Broward County families regularly. There is no residency restriction on private school enrollment in Florida.
