Montessori School Serving Boynton Beach Families

West Boynton Beach has grown quickly, and the families moving into Canyon Lakes, Canyon Springs, Canyon Isles, Valencia Cove, Valencia Isles, Boynton Lakes, and the Hagen Ranch Road corridor have brought a lot of young children with them. Preschool capacity has not kept pace, and the schools that opened to meet the demand are, in many cases, very new.

Royal Palm Montessori Academy is not. We opened in February 2000, and we have taught in the same building, under the same family, ever since.

The drive south

Lyons Road is the simplest route. It runs south from the Boynton Beach Boulevard corridor straight through to West Boca Raton, where our campus sits on Cobblestone Way. Families coming from east Boynton typically take Boynton Beach Boulevard or Woolbright Road west to Lyons Road or Military Trail, then head south. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Twenty-six years, one location

Longevity in early childhood education is worth more than a new building. Ours means:

  • Teachers who have been in the same classroom for two decades and know exactly how a two-year-old adjusts in their first three weeks

  • A curriculum developer who has taught here since 2000 and has refined the program continuously since

  • An owner/director who has run the school since 1999 — with a BA from Harvard University, a master's degree from Nova Southeastern University, and Montessori certification

  • Families sending second and third children through the same classrooms

We hold Apple Accreditation through FACCM and are licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families, license #50-51-00898.

What children do here

Montessori classrooms look different from conventional preschool rooms, so here is the concrete version. Materials sit on open shelves at a child's height, arranged into five areas. A child selects a work, brings it to a mat or table, uses it, and returns it. Teachers give individual and small-group lessons.

Practical Life

pouring, buttoning, sweeping, food preparation. Builds concentration, sequencing, and hand control. This is where every child begins.

Sensorial

materials that isolate one quality at a time so children learn to notice detail: color, weight, shape, texture, size, sound, smell.

Language

letter shapes and sounds, fine-motor writing preparation, vocabulary, word-picture matching, reading.

Mathematics

concrete quantity before written numeral, producing durable number sense.

Science and Social Studies

botany, geography, and the natural world, reinforced in our school garden where children plant, grow produce, and run experiments.

Supporting programs: Spanish three times weekly, art twice weekly, weekly computer lab, physical education, and a moral character program built around kindness, responsibility, and citizenship. Optional extracurriculars include Soccer Shots, Kenpo Karate, and dance through Dynamite Dance Studio.

Small ratios, large classrooms

Our ratios are small and our classrooms are big. Both are prerequisites, not perks. A child working with the golden bead material needs floor space and uninterrupted time; a teacher giving a three-period lesson needs to be free to do it. Preschools that cram thirty children into a small room cannot deliver this regardless of what they call themselves.

VPK and scholarships

We participate in Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten program and have spots available. Boynton Beach families are in Palm Beach County, so your VPK Certificate of Eligibility applies here directly. We also work with families using Step Up For Students scholarships — call us and we will explain how it works at our school.
