Montessori School Serving Coral Springs Families

Coral Springs has no shortage of preschools. What it has fewer of is preschools that will still be under the same ownership when your second child is ready to enroll.

Royal Palm Montessori Academy opened in February 2000 and has operated from the same West Boca Raton campus, under the same family, ever since — twenty-six years. The family's work in early childhood education goes back to 1989. Several of our Montessori-certified teachers have been in these classrooms since the doors opened.

That matters more than it sounds like it does. Preschool turnover is the single most common complaint we hear from families arriving from larger chain programs: new director every eighteen months, new teachers every fall, curriculum "refreshed" every time corporate changes hands.

Getting here from Coral Springs

From Eagle Trace, Heron Bay, Wyndham Lakes, Turtle Run, Ramblewood, Maplewood, or Westchester, the route runs north via State Road 7/US-441 or Coral Ridge Drive to the Sawgrass Expressway and Florida's Turnpike, then east into West Boca. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Accredited, licensed, certified

  • Apple Accreditation through FACCM

  • Florida DCF license #50-51-00898

  • Montessori-certified teaching staff

  • Owner/director with a BA from Harvard University, a master's from Nova Southeastern University, and Montessori certification, leading the school since 1999

These are the questions worth asking every preschool on your Coral Springs shortlist. Accreditation, licensing, and where the teachers were actually certified. The word "Montessori" is not trademarked in a way that restricts its use, which is why the credential questions matter.

What the program covers

Our classrooms are organized into the five Montessori curriculum areas.

Practical Life

is where children begin and where the foundation is built — pouring, buttoning, sweeping, food preparation. These activities develop the concentration, sequencing, and hand control that academic work depends on.

Sensorial

materials isolate one quality at a time — color, weight, shape, texture, size, sound, smell — training children to notice precise detail.

Language

progresses from letter shapes and sounds through fine-motor writing preparation, vocabulary, and word-picture matching into independent reading.

Mathematics

uses concrete materials before abstract symbols, so children build a physical understanding of quantity before they ever write a numeral.

Science and Social Studies

cover botany, geography, and the natural world, with hands-on reinforcement in our school garden where children plant, grow produce, and conduct experiments.

Supporting the core curriculum: Spanish three times a week, art twice a week, weekly computer lab, physical education, and a moral character program built around kindness, responsibility, and citizenship. Extracurriculars include soccer through Soccer Shots, Kenpo Karate, and dance through Dynamite Dance Studio.

Small ratios, large classrooms

We maintain small student-to-teacher ratios in classrooms that are physically large. This is not a premium feature — it is the operating requirement of the method. A child needs room to lay out a work mat and stay with a material uninterrupted, and a teacher needs enough availability to give individual lessons. When you tour preschools, count the adults and look at the floor space.

VPK, scholarships, and enrollment

We participate in Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten program. Because VPK is state-administered rather than county-administered, Broward County families can generally use their Certificate of Eligibility at a participating provider in Palm Beach County. Call us and we will explain the process. We also work with families using Step Up For Students scholarships.

Enrollment questions, tuition, and availability are all handled by phone or in person — call (561) 483-3838 or email royalpalmmontessori@gmail.com.

Visit during a working period

If you take one piece of advice from this page: tour any preschool while children are actually in session, not during an empty afternoon. A Montessori classroom in motion is quiet, busy, and slightly surprising the first time you see it. Ours are open to visitors Monday through Friday.
